Summer Reading 2016 - Exercise Your Mind...Read!


                                         Registration opens on June 14, 2016!



      Here you will find our lineup of summer activities for all ages at Upton Town Library! 
              The theme for Summer 2016 is WELLNESS, FITNESS AND SPORTS!



Read ANY five (5) books in our summer reading program and earn FREE tickets to a Pawtucket Red Sox game on 
August 9, 2016 


Write all your reads down on the reading log found in your registration bag and turn it in to a librarian for your ticket! For rising elementary, middle and high school students only. The book lengths, formats (e-books, audiobook, etc.), or reading levels do not matter.

                            On Your Mark, Get Set....Events For Everyone




Tuesday, June 21, 6:00pm - 7:00pm
Nipmuc High School Courtyard
The University of New Hampshire’s traveling theater group will captivate audiences with a presentation of American Folk Tales! In case of rain, this event will be moved to the Nipmuc High School Auditorium.


Thursday, June 30, 10:30am - 11:15am
 Nipmuc High School Gymnasium
In this inspiring, high energy 30-45 minute program, Todd captivates students by demonstrating basic tricks, catches and combinations. He shows a number of many rare and unique Frisbees along with stories and messages that he shares. The program also includes a brief science lesson on the aerodynamics of Frisbees and a bit of history about tossing circular objects.




Wednesday, July 6, 4:30pm - 6:00pm
 Nipmuc High School Gymnasium
The Pinto Bella Hoops library program has become a favorite of students and families around the USA! This program lasts one hour, though Pinto Bella lingers for another 20-30 minutes to answer questions about hooping, where to take classes, and how to get your own hoop.

Upton Town Library Lawn
One of our most popular events of the year! Come meet, feed, and brush some friendly and patient barn animals in their own pen. Each visit is supervised by the traveling petting zoo handler. An additional pen for viewing only will include Steve the donkey and Hunter the llama!

Thursday, July 28, 6:30pm - 7:30pm
Town Hall Auditorium
Upton's own Miss Nicole teams up with Mr. Steve of Bellingham Public Library for a dynamic Elephant and Piggie theatrical presentation, based on the beloved Mo Willems series! Stick around for crafts, activities, and a special Meet and Greet with Elephant and Piggie themselves! Don't forget your camera!

Children's Area in Upton Town Library
Meet New England Hall of Fame wrestler Joel "Real Deal" Davis as he shares a motivational "Staying Fit and Living Your Dream" for a combination motivational speaking and active program. Door prizes will include 'Best of' DVDs!

Tote Bag Design Party!
Friday, August 5, 11:45am - 1:30pm
Upton Town Library
For all registered summer reading participants. Drop in during this session to design your own summer tote bag! We’ll supply the bags and puffy paints!

Held on select Fridays at 10:30am: June 24, July 8, July 22, and August 5
Join us for songs, rhymes, and fun at Upton Town Library, Veterans' Memorial Playground, and/or Kiwanis Beach! Locations will be posted on Facebook and Twitter one (1) day in advance before meeting time;
it is encouraged to leave contact info with the library for location plans.

Held on select Thursdays at 10:30am: June 23, July 14, July 28, and August 4

Wednesday, June 29, 3:00pm - 4:30pm
 Upton Town Library
This cooking class shows how healthy eating is fun and delicious. A tasty meal with kid-friendly and nutritious ingredients is prepared and sampled by the teens. The class is hands-on for a group holding up to 14 participants.

Nipmuc High School Courtyard
This one-hour program is an all-levels interactive exploratory class on teen and adult fitness and the integration of hoops and yoga to support the body and your fitness practice!

Foodplay's national award-winning assembly program brings the power of live theater, amazing feats of juggling, captivating characters, motivating messages, music, magic, and audience participation to turn kids on to healthy eating and active lifestyles.


Stuffed Animal Sleepover Party
(Ages 4+) 
Drop-off by 6pm on Tuesday, August 2,
Upton Town Library
Drop off your stuffed animal by 6:00pm for a sleepover party! Pick them up the next day and find out what they did overnight!
