Planning for a New Library Facility Underway

Over the last year, the Upton Town Library has been starting a planning and design project to evaluate various options for construction or renovation, and to design a library facility suitable to meet the needs of the Upton community. The expected result of this process is a set of conceptual designs and a cost estimate for a new library facility that will meet the needs of the Town of Upton for at least the next twenty years.

Visit the planning website at to find information about the progress and status of the project, to give your feedback and to access committee agendas, minutes and meeting dates.  To date, funding for the project has been provided by a Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners' grant of $44,220 and $22,000 in matching funds approved by the Upton Town Meeting in 2014.  Check out the above video from the MBLC which shows how they provide financial and technical assistance to municipalities for planning, design, improvement and expansion of their public library facilities.
