Summer Reading Kickoff: Little Red Wagon's Presentation of "The Nightingale"
Upton Town Library will host the University of New Hampshire’s Little Red Wagon professional children’s theatre troupe on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 6pm at the Nipmuc High School Courtyard for a performance of  “The Nightingale.” Adapted from the 1843 story by Hans Christian Andersen and directed by UNH Associate Professor Raina Ames, Little Red Wagon’s “The Nightingale” is a reimagined telling of this Danish fairy tale. Through movement and music, the story portrays an emperor who neglects the beauty of his faithful, real nightingale in favor of a bejeweled, mechanical nightingale. Appropriate for kids between the ages of 3 and 10. No sign-ups for this program are necessary. In case of inclement weather the show will be moved inside to the Nipmuc High School Auditorium.

Registration Week Opens This Week
Registration Week for Upton Town Library’s Summer Reading Program for kids opens on Tuesday, June 17 and continues all summer long! Come pick up your registration bag where you will find a flyer, which will promote all our special events, as well as a reading log, which you can use to earn a special ticket to see a Pawtucket Red Sox game in August!

Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Course
Learn how to help kids have fun while keeping them safe with a Babysitter’s Training Course provided by the American Red Cross. This workshop offers hands-on skills practice and basic training in first aid. This class requires pre-registration, a tuition fee of $85, and is open to boys and girls between the ages 11-15. After completing the class, the newly certified babysitters are invited to visit a storytime to meet the library’s youngest visitors and introduce themselves as certified babysitters. The class will be held on Friday, June 27, from 9am to 3:30pm. Pre-registration and payment of tuition fee are required.
